UNICEF och WHO rapporterar om nedgång i barnvaccinationer och hotet om kolera

Rutinmässiga vacciner till världens barn har hamnat i skymundan i spåren av pandemin, vilket leder till den största tillbakagången på tre decennier, enligt en rapport från FN:s barnfond Unicef. Generalsekreteraren för Unicef Sverige, varnar för att vaccinationsgraden sjunker i hela 112 länder.
Fram till att coronaviruset slog till hade vaccinationstäckningen stadigt ökat i över 80 år. Tyvärr har trenden vänt nedåt sedan dess, och bristen på vaccinationer är särskilt allvarlig i fattiga och konfliktdrabbade områden.
Samtidigt hotar kolerautbrott en miljard människor i 43 länder enligt WHO. Utbrott har rapporterats i 24 länder hittills i år, jämfört med 15 länder förra året. Krig, fattigdom och klimatförändringar bidrar till denna oroande utveckling.

The routine vaccination of children worldwide has taken a backseat in the wake of the pandemic, leading to the largest decline in three decades, according to a report from the UN's children's fund, Unicef. The General Secretary of Unicef Sweden warns that vaccination rates are declining in a total of 112 countries.
Until the coronavirus struck, vaccination coverage had steadily increased for over 80 years. Unfortunately, the trend has reversed since then, and the lack of vaccinations is particularly severe in poor and conflict-affected areas.
At the same time, cholera outbreaks threaten one billion people in 43 countries, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). Outbreaks have been reported in 24 countries so far this year, compared to 15 countries last year. War, poverty, and climate change contribute to this alarming development.
These two global health challenges require urgent action. As experts in injection technology, we are ready to contribute to solving these problems.
